HYPERSPACE : Else If, Paraphoniks & Uday Dass @ Antisocial : Gig Review

11057740_606219246176440_4503336358382188899_n

Last night at Antisocial was fun. ‪#‎Hyperspace‬ ‪#‎DelhiGig‬

With Uday Dass taking the driving seat and becoming the saviour for the day. He played what he was known for, deep and dark progressive sounds. Giving a perfect start to the evening.

Paraphoniks, the analog geeks, played some of the songs from their album “Handwired”. We were able to recognize the songs cause we had just heard them day before.

This was probably the first time that Delhi had seen not so conventional live “EDM” gig. But we can say with the surety that the act was well received by the audience. We were able to get our hands on their new album CD as well.

else if were the last one to take over the stage. These fellas were dropping bit glitchy, dreamy and liquid beats and mind you, there was guitar involved.

The event started bit late than the scheduled time and set-up looked less prepared but hey, what can we say, this is Delhi. Besides, what matter is those smiling faces on the dance floor and body moving along with the grooves and which were in good numbers towards the later half of the evening.

Now comes the set-up and concept, you have to applaud Wunderground Experience for the concept of the gig. They had created 3D like spacey projection with the help of white see through drapes and it looked amazing. Antisocial as always been welcoming such acts and providing unconventional clubbing experience and last night was no difference.

Kudos to @Wunderground Experience team for organizing another awesome gig.

Cheers to more in the future!!!

Sets, we love and the artists, we adore!!!

Yalllow Folks!

Last month we came across two sets by the musical geniuses, Praveen Achary and Hisham Zahran. For those of you, who don’t know Praveen Achary, he is the finest producer of progressive house genre with the little twist of deep & dark sound coming out of India. On the other hand, Hisham Zahran is the excellent producer from Cairo. He is one of those DJs that can very well survive in “Last Man Standing” sessions. So the sets that we are talking here is March edition of Juicebox Music by Praveen and Hisham’s live set recorded at Private Monkey, Dusseldorf.

Let’s talk about the set by Praveen. According to him, this is one of the best set he has done in long time and we couldn’t agree with him more. This is one action packed set, from the very beginning it takes you on a roller coaster ride.

For now, we will leave you all with these two set that exactly define our taste in music. Cheers!!!

Chasing Storm – NYE @ Coorg

chasing-storm-bgWhile there are bunch of parties happening in India on the new year’s eve with all the hustle and bustle, here is the event promising the pure music and authentic camping experience. For those who love the coziness of the nature, this is the place to be seriously.

Chasing storm is the franchise of the Storm Festival which is full-fledged fest lasting for 3 days. This is the first edition of Chasing Storm and we have high hopes with them. You would be seeing artists like Swarthama, DjIvan, Sanjay Dutta and many more. It only shows that this isn’t just about music or genre and more about living the experience of being close to nature and with your favourite artist/song/music.

Vh1Supersonic 2014 – Awesome Lineup & Watchlist

12809-supersonicfestivalposterAnother year is coming to an end and a new edition of Vh1 Supersonic is ready to take us for a journey on the sands of Goa, India. After the first edition, Supersonic is back and it is back with a bang. An extended lineup but a reduced number of days from earlier five days. However, no compromises have been made whatsoever in terms of quality and what is worth appreciating is that the number of Indian artists that have been featured as Nikhil had promised.

Going through the artists lineup for the first time, we went silly with excitement. A little later on we were already picking up our favourite artist(s) and creating a schedule.

Although the list that we have compiled is in accordance with our taste and love the genre of the music, it is an individual preference for which stage that he or she would want to attend. As we all know, it is not even about the genre but simply brilliant music, just walk around on the sands and stop wherever and whenever you hear interesting beats.

Here are few of the artist(s) that are definitely worth checking:

1. Coyu: The Big Boss of Suara, a techno and house music record label, he has been to India earlier this year. This probably will be his second visit and he has already gained a fan base in India. If his recent tweets are to be believed, he may play deep set or might just switch between techno and house sounds during his set.

2. Guy J: This Guy needs no introduction, in the past one year or so, we have seen him touring all around the world. The best thing about his DJ sets is the ability to capture the listener’s attention without touching the mic for even once. You just glide through his sets and before you know it, it’s over and you’re left wanting for more. If not for anything else, we say that you just be there for the intro of his set. It will simply be pure genius and an absolute bliss. Although, he would be doing a B2B set with Jeromy Olander however, that magic will be there for sure.

3. Praveen Achary: He is probably one of the few producers that we have in India, whose style of production/working is of international standards. His music talks for him which is again pure quality and nothing else. We have been following him for long and are in love with his monthly show for his own record label (Juicebox Music) on Frisky Radio. His music/sets primarily consists of progressively dark sounds, reason why we couldn’t afford miss him from our list.

https://soundcloud.com/praveenachary/praveen-achary-juicebox-on-friskyradio-october-2014

4. Sanjay Dutta: Mr. Dutta, also known as “Beast from the East”, has been responsible for single-handedly creating and managing the dance music scene in eastern part of the country. You would only get topnotch tunes from this guy with the emphasis on techno sounds.

5. Maya Jane Coles: She is a true rockstar!! The only women dominating the house music scene around. Her sounds purely involves house music without disturbing the sub-genre.

6. Above & Beyond: And last but not the least, this trio has spelled magic on Indian continents throughout the years and they are back on the sands to cast the spell again. Their music has perfect balance of modern sounds with classic trance touch and their ability to engage the crowd all through the set is what sets them apart.

At the end of it all, you cannot adore, admire, appreciate and thank enough the folks at Vh1 Supersonic, Nikhil Chinapa and his team for continuously working round the clock to get it right, every single time!!!

We have always been a big fan of him, the way he weaves his set is absolutely impeccable. If not for anything else, just listen to the intro which puts his music right up there on our list!

India, EDM and Year 2013!!!

The year 2013 has seen lot of ups and downs when it comes to electronic music scene in India.  Some of them were because of “Purely Business” reasons and others’ “Ego” however, amidst all this, we could see the general awareness and love for EDM growing in India.  It is no longer restricted to southern cities of the country where it all started back in late 90’s.  Today, artists like Above&Beyond, Swedish House Mafia, Axwell, Tiesto, Armin Van Burren…have become household names of young India.

The year started off with rescheduled tour of Swedish House Mafia in Mumbai and a surprise edition of Bangalore. And throughout the year, we saw big names of electronic music flying down to India.  Armin, Alesso, Kaskade, Zedd, Mat Zo, Guy J, Jody Wisternoff, Hardwell, Steve Aoki, Porter Robinson, Dash Berlin, Nervo, Rank1, Paul Van Dyke, Fedde Le Grande, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Seven Lions, recently concluded an amazing tour by Above&Beyond and the list is never ending and they are coming back again.

We raved on every opportunity given to us.  It is always heartwarming to see smiling faces everywhere whether it’s a club or an arena, there is so much love and respect for each of these artists.  It is because of events like this that has brought us together to celebrate life and music like a family.

Here we would like to thank every artist management company who made this possible; Submerge, sLick, Replug Social and Unmute Agency are some of them to name the few.

Fast forward to the year end and it’s December again and Goa has has been transformed into one big hub for electronic music lovers.  Yes, we are talking about Sunburn and a new born baby, Supersonic.  If you look at the line up for these two events, you will know why we said Goa will be buzzing.  Both are scheduled to last for almost a week, you are going to see Goa in a completely different colour, this time around.

We would like to wish Nikhil Chinapa and his crew all the best for the first ever, Vh1SuperSonic.  Nikhil has done this before and we know he can do it this time as well. We hope 2014 will give us more opportunities to celebrate.

See you on the sands of Goa!!!

Peace. Love. Unity. Respect.

This 17 something guy has swept the entire EDM floor with surprise. A true rising star of 2013. He is all over the freakin’ genres but his deep/progressive sounds are amazing and interesting enough to grab your attention. It is surprising to see the understanding of such fine tunes/beats at such an early age.

His work has been supported and appreciated by all the big names of EDM world including Above & Beyond, Solarstone, Jaytech, Stoneface & Terminal, Richard Durand, Ilan Bluestone, Fehrplay just to name a few.  He rose to fame after his appearance on Above & Beyond’s weekly radio show, Group Therapy, as the youngest guest mixer.  But one could only see his true taste in music, when he was on the mix duties for Anjunabeats’s Worldwide show.  His releases have been signed with labels such as Anjunabeats, Armada Music, Silk Music and Enhanced Music.

He essentially considers himself as a producer instead of Dj, which is a good thing considering that he has just started off however, we can see him getting more involved in Djing as it is equally important to touch base every now and then. It kind of helps you to understand the crowds interest and vibe and of course, best platform to test ones tunes. If his tweets are to be believed Matt is working on hell lot of projects, so it would be safe to assume that 2014 is going to be full of surprises for all the fans (we are definitely included) and music lovers.

We recommend that you all go through his soundcloud page, for us, it is the best place to get the taste of his likes in music.

He is one of the finest and hottest house music producers around that we have come across in last few months.  He has been named “Breakthrough Djs Of The Year 2013” by DjMag.  A Leeds based dj/producer has not just risen from underground circuit but blown our mind off.

We are not going to dig in the distant past therefore, let’s talk about present.  He has just released his debut album called “Little Black Book” on Moda Black lable on 22nd October.  His music is fresh and reminds you of good old days of house and yet keeping it up to date.  It’s deep, dark and bit techno.  The complete album is full of pure bliss sounds.  Something that one must have in his/her collection.  His tour dates can be found on his facebook page.

In a recent interview given to DjMag, he said (about his music) that he is not trying to make deep house sounds, it’s always deep-ish and more importantly producing stuff that he really likes.

Here is the tracklist of the much talked about album of the year, Little Black Book:
1. Hot Since 82: Shadows (feat. Alex Mills)
2. Hot Since 82: Planes & Trains
3. Hot Since 82: Chords
4. Rudimental: Right Here (Hot Since 82 Remix)
5. Green Velvet: Bigger Than Prince (Hot Since 82 Remix)
6. Hot Since 82: Hot’s Groove
7. Shadow Child: So High (Hot Since 82 Remix)
8. Hot Since 82: Hurt You (Lee Curtiss Remix)
9. Hot Since 82: Insane I Know
10. Hot Since 82: Transitions
11. Hot Since 82: Things You Do To Me (feat. Thomas Gandey)
12. Hot Since 82: Cry Mumbai
13. Hot Since 82 vs. Joe T Vannelli: The End

We liked all the tracks but have couple of them on loops for sometime now, for example, Shadows (amazingly deep and dark), Rudimental’s Right Here (tripy one, nice club sound), Hurt You (it’s all about drum and bass) and finally, The End (it has bit gothic and contemporary feel to it with nice beats).

We hope to see him in India soon…
